NFL Notes: Johnny Manziel, Falcons, Packers, Patriots, & Redskins

Johnny Manziel

• Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the Browns demoted QB Johnny Manziel to their No. 3 quarterback not because of the video along, but because he lied to them and said it was an old video. (Ben Volin)
• Ian Rapoport reports that the Browns wanted Manziel to lay low during the bye week and spend time around the team’s facility. However, they felt “betrayed” when he did just the opposite.

Falcons

• Falcons HC Dan Quinn said RB Devonta Freeman will not practice on Thursday and they’re preparing as if he will not play in Sunday’s game against the Vikings. (Adam Scehfter)

Packers

• Aaron Wilson reports that the Packers are working out WR Emughedi Umodu.

Patriots

• Patriots WR Danny Amendola (knee) returned to practice on Thursday on a limited basis.
• Field Yates mentions that if appears as though Sunday night is at least in play for Amendola.

Redskins

• Aaron Wilson reports that the Redskins are working out S Brian Suite.
