Draft

Matt Miller offers current quarterback comparisons for the top-three quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft.

• Miller compares North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz to the Raiders’ Derek Carr, California’s Jared Goff to the Falcons’ Matt Ryan, and Memphis’ Paxton Lynch to the Jaguars’ Blake Bortles.

Free Agents

• Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap does not see Bengals WR Marvin Jones receiving more than $7 million per season through free agency.
• Fitzgerald views impending free agent LB Bruce Irvin as a player that could command a contract around $6 million annually.
• As for Raiders LT Donald Penn, Fitzgerald guesses that he will receive a contract around $4 million per year–but it will not be with Oakland.
• Fitzgerald thinks DE Jason Pierre-Paul will be signed to a one-year, $7-8 million contract with a number of incentives since he struggled playing with a cast last season.
• Fitzgerald could see Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne receiving a one-year, $2-3 million “prove it” deal somewhere on the open market.
• For another possible cornerback free agent, Fitzgerald sees Chiefs CB Sean Smith reaching the open market and having a $10-11 million annual asking price.
• As for the two impending cornerback free agents on the Rams, Fitzgerald can only see one of either Janoris Jenkins or Trumaine Johnson re-signing with the team.

Broncos

• Jason Fitzgerald guesses that the Broncos will place a second round tender on restricted free agent RB C.J. Anderson.

Giants

• According to Dan Graziano, the Giants did not approach LT Will Beatty or G Geoff Schwartz about a possible pay cut prior to releasing them.
• Mike Jurecki does not think DE Jason Pierre-Paul will be back with the Giants in 2016.

Jets

• Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News believes that finding an edge-rusher is the Jets’ largest priority in the draft in order to keep Sheldon Richardson at his natural position at outside linebacker.
• While HC Todd Bowles said he would like to re-sign NT Damon Harrison, he admitted that it would be hard to bring him back if another team offers a high-paying contract.
• Mehta envisions Harrison commanding a contract that would pay in the $4-5 million range.
• The Jets could save $8 million in cap space without accumulating any dead money by cutting CB Antonio Cromartie.
