NFL Notes: Free Agents, Browns, Cowboys, & Jaguars

Free Agents

Field Yates of ESPN (Insider) takes a look at the top-15 free agents for the 2016 season.

  1. Chargers QB Philip Rivers
  2. Broncos OLB Von Miller
  3. Chiefs OLB Justin Houston
  4. Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas
  5. Cowboys WR Dez Bryant

Browns

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports that QB Johnny Manziel is expected to participate in the Browns’ offseason workouts that start on April 20 once he has completed his treatment.

I don’t think it’s in doubt,” GM Ray Farmer said at the NFL owners meetings when asked whether he thinks Manziel will be back in time for the April 20 workouts. “Again, I’m not the point person in that. So I would defer to those kind of controlling his care and let them decide what that looks likes.”

Cowboys

Cowboys HC Jason Garrett said that they have been in contact with free agent ILB Rolando McClain and is open to re-signing him.

I talked to him two or three days ago,’’ Garrett said, via the Dallas Morning News. “We’re just working through the business of the NFL.’’

Jaguars

Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell told reporters on Monday that the Eagles’ offer to RB DeMarco Murray far exceed their final offer by more than $2 million per year.

We were serious about him and we were probably the second-best offer he had,” Caldwell said, via the Florida Times Union. “We just needed the deal to get done quicker than they were willing to do it. Philly got a great player and we’re excited with the players we got.
