Geno Smith
Josina Anderson reports that Jets QB Geno Smith has elected to undergo surgery on his broken jaw.
Regarding the incident that led to IK Enemkpali punching Smith, sources tells Manish Mehta that Smith “was up in (Enemkpali’s) face and pointed/touched his face” and “Geno deserved it.”
Mehta’s sources added: “That’ll get a man hit every time, especially one that hasn’t earned respect.”
Tom Brady
- According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, it’s possible that the judge overhearing Tom Brady‘s case against the NFL could offer a ruling that would force the two parties to negotiate a settlement.
- Florio mentions that the judge could always nullify the arbitration ruling from Roger Goodell and send the case back to him for further proceedings.
- There’s also the possibility that the judge could request that an independent arbitrator oversee the new hearing.
Colts
- Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk mentions that with a contract extension in place for WR T.Y. Hilton, the Colts now have their franchise tag available to use on LT Anthony Castonzo and possibly on TE Coby Fleener.
- Joel Corry points out that Colts GM Ryan Grigson’s approach to addressing players before the end of their contract suggests that Andrew Luck will have a new deal in place at some point in 2016, rather than this year.
Texans
- Aaron Wilson reports that free agent RB Pierre Thomas turned down a veteran minimum offer of $870,000 from the Texans last week.
