NFL Notes: Giants, Rams, Ravens & Seahawks

Giants

  • Dan Granziano expects second-round WR Sterling Shepard to be the Giants’ No. 2 receiver if he shows he’s ready to handle the job.
Third-round S Darian Thompson and fourth-round LB B.J. Goodson could both earn starting jobs this summer as well.

Rams

  • Nick Wagoner identifies second-year RT Rob Havenstein as a potential break out candidate for the Rams in 2016. While Wagoner doesn’t think Havenstein will ever wow anyone with his ability, it’s possible he could develop into one of the more consistent right tackles in the league.

Ravens

Ravens RB Trent Richardson missed the entire first week of the OTAs after he recently sustained a hamstring injury.

Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters that Richardson needs to get healthy and improve his overall conditioning to compete for a job.

Trent just needs to get healthy,” Harbaugh said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN. “I think the workload and the amount of work it takes to be a world-class conditioned athlete is something that he’s working on right now. That’s what he needs to understand, and that’s where he needs to get himself.

“When he gets himself [in shape], he’s got talent,” Harbaugh added. “I’m very certain he’ll get there. And when he does, we’ll be able to evaluate him.”

This comes after the Ravens asked Richardson to lose weight before they signed him to a contract.

Seahawks

  • Sheil Kapadia of ESPN doesn’t rule out Marshawn Lynch changing his mind about retirement at some point. However, he believes it’s unlikely the Seahawks would welcome him back, considering that he’s owed $9 million in 2016 and the fact that they used three draft picks on running backs just a few weeks ago and still have Thomas Rawls and Christine Michael on their roster.
