NFL Notes: GMs On Hot Seat, Broncos, Cardinals, & Cowboys

GMs On Hot Seat

Don Banks of SI.com takes a look at the top-eight NFL GMs who could be on the hot seat this season. Banks offers a good overview of each GM and their current situation, so it’s worth heading over there and giving the article a read.

The top-five GMs included in Banks’ list are:

  1. Jerry Reese (Giants)
  2. Thomas Dimitroff (Falcons)
  3. Trent Baalke (49ers)
  4. Ryan Grigson (Colts)
  5. David Caldwell (Jaguars)

Broncos

  • Mike Klis of 9News writes that a few underrated position battles for the Broncos this is summer include slot receiver, tight end, and inside linebacker.
  • Klis considers 2016 to be a “make-or-break season” for RB Kapri Bibbs.
  • According to Klis, the Broncos are trying to get a contract extension in place for WR Emmanuel Sanders. However, Klis thinks Sanders could command more money than the five-year, $55 million contract signed by Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin last year if he were to test the open market.

Cardinals

Cardinals NT Corey Peters said he’s “close to the end” of his recovery from the torn Achilles he sustained last August.

“We’re close to the end,” Peters told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN. “I’m looking forward to these next few months.

Cowboys

Cowboys HC Jason Garrett explained that while QB Kellen Moore may not be the most gifted player from a physical standpoint, there’s a lot he brings to the table that adds to his value as a backup.

He’s not a guy that overly impresses you physically,” Garrett said, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “He’s not an imposing figure when he walks into the room. He doesn’t have an overly powerful arm. He’s not overly athletic. But he has a lot of the things that really good quarterbacks have. He understands the game. He has a good feel for the game. He’s instinctive. He’s a very accurate passer. He’s a quick decision-maker. And he’s a very good leader.”
