NFL Notes: Greg Hardy, Cowboys, Giants, & Jaguars

Greg Hardy

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports writes that Greg Hardy and the Players Association will attempt to overturn a 10-game suspension by arguing that commissioner Roger Goodell applied new personal conduct guidelines and penalties to a player for alleged acts that occurred when a prior system was in place.

This is essentially what Vikings RB Adrian Peterson argued when he had his indefinite suspension overturned earlier in the offseason.

Cowboys

Cowboys RB Joseph Randle has received a majority of first-team reps at this week’s OTAs.

Randle made an interesting comment about former Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray not picking up as many yards as he could have.

“He had a good year last year, and I got to sit back and watch a lot,” Randle said, via Dallas Morning News “and I felt like there was a lot of meat left on the bone.”

Giants

  • Dan Graziano mentions that the Giants lined Cullen Jenkins almost exclusively at defensive end on Wednesday.
  • The Giants had second-round rookie Landon Collins and Cooper Taylor lined up as their first-team safeties.
  • Trumaine McBride lined up as the first-team nickel cornerback.

Jaguars

Jaguars HC Gus Bradley said he’s noticed an improvement in QB Blake Bortles‘ mechanics.

I’ve seen his footwork, his mechanics, I think, are better,” Bradley said, via Florida Times Union. “He catches it now. He realizes he’s done it and he gets back on course. That part we’ve got to keep working through, but I’m very pleased with where he is right now.

  • Jaguars first-round DE Dante Fowler underwent his ACL repair surgery Wednesday.
