NFL Notes: Greg Hardy, Jim Schwartz, Chiefs, Jaguars, & Lions

Greg Hardy

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that the Cowboys have reached out to DE Greg Hardy‘s representatives  to declare that they have no issues with Hardy and his behavior.

Florio adds that the Cowboys have also made it clear that they want to extend Hardy’s contract.

All of this is in line with comments from Jerry and Stephen Jones, who have said that they would like to sign Hardy to a long-term extension, despite a recent incident in which fought with their special teams coordinator.

Jim Schwartz

Former Lions HC Jim Schwartz said he wants to return to coaching next year.

What I’ve been afforded is the chance to make sure that any opportunity I take is the best choice,” Schwartz said, via Don Banks of SI.com. “Look at Tom Coughlin after Jacksonville. He was able to find a very good opportunity with the Giants. It’s easy to look around and point out some coaches in the past where their second opportunity came in a place that might not have been the most conducive for success, and for some of them, that’s the last you heard of them. You can get a second chance. You’re not going to get two more chances.”

Schwartz is currently working in the league office with the officiating department, which he believes could help him with his next job.

Chiefs

  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Chiefs worked out LB Alex Singleton on Tuesday.

Jaguars

  • Jaguars HC Gus Bradley told reporters on Tuesday that they haven’t ruled out bringing in free agent kickers for tryouts with K Jason Myers struggling. (John Oesher)

Lions

  • ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Lions OC Joe Lombardi, who was fired on Monday, will be paid the balance of his three-year contract, including $1.3 million in 2016.
