NFL Notes: Jaguars, Rams, Seahawks

Jaguars

Newly acquired DT Marcell Dareus said Monday that he’s still in shock regarding the recent trade that sent him to Jacksonville.

“I still haven’t gotten over it yet,” Dareus said, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com. “I’m still in shock. I’m shocked for a trade. I’m shocked that this defense, this team … I’m still just taking it all in. It’s three days, man. Three days.”

Dareus explained that the situation was “overwhelming” and even a little “emotional” for him.

“Little overwhelming,” Dareus said. “Kind of saw some things happening but at the same time I was getting prepared for the game and we had a game plan in and I was practicing all week and I’m just zoned in, trying to keep negativity out. And when I got the call and things happened the way it did, I can’t lie it did make me a little emotional because I know [Saturday] it is a one-way ticket [to Jacksonville].

“… It was so swift that before I knew it I was already in Charlotte [for a connecting flight] and by the time I got to Charlotte, a blink of the eye and I’m here in Jacksonville saying hey to the coaches, the biggest cocktail party in the world [the annual Georgia-Florida game at Everbank Field], and with all that going on it was just — the world is spinning. Traded, on the plane, cocktail party, going to the stadium, saying hello, getting out, going to the hotel room laying on the bed looking at the roof: What is going on?

Rams

  • Rams RB Lance Dunbar (PUP list) officially returned to practice on Monday, according to Vincent Bonsignore.
  • This officially opens a three-week window for the Rams to add Dunbar to their active roster or place him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

Seahawks

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll explained during an interview with 710 ESPN Seattle on Monday that as soon as the report surfaced that they are open to trading TE Jimmy Graham, he immediately went to talk to Graham directly.

“When I heard that, too, I went straight to Jimmy, I ran to him to make sure that it wasn’t bothering him,” Carroll said, via ESPN.com. “He was aware of it, in my observation. So we just talked about it eye to eye, the reality and the truth of it and that there was nothing there and somebody just made that up. By the time we got to game time, I checked back in with him a couple times just to make sure he was OK, because we need his spirit going in the right direction. He came around fine. He was fine. But he was — I don’t know, you’d have to ask him. I think it bothered him.”
