NFL Notes: Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Draft, Cardinals, Saints

Jameis Winston

• The Titans announced that they’re hosting Florida State QB Jameis Winston for a visit on Monday.
• Albert Breer reports that Winston will work out for the Rams later in the week and has a trip scheduled to meet with the Jets.

Marcus Mariota

• Albert Breer reports that Oregon QB Marcus Mariota will work out for the Chargers on Wednesday, and the Rams later in the week.

Draft

An NFL evaluator tells Jason La Canfora that  Florida State DL Mario Edwards Jr. could end up being a surprise first-round pick this year.

“Why aren’t any of you guys writing about Mario Edwards?” the evaluator asked. “I look around the Internet at these mock drafts and I don’t think I’ve seen him in the first round in one of them. He’s not showing up in any of them. I think you’re missing on him. He’s going to surprise some people. I think he goes in the first round. In this [not overly talented] draft, he’s definitely a first-rounder for me.”

According to La Canfora, Edwards could come off the board anywhere from No. 11 –  No. 19 overall.

• Mike Garafolo reports that Oregon OT Jake Fisher is visiting with a few teams drafting in the latter part of round one including: the Colts, Bengals, and Saints.
• Garafolo adds that Fisher has previously visited with the Dolphins.

Cardinals

• Ian Rapoport reports that Nebraska DE/OLB Randy Gregory visited with the Cardinals on Sunday.

Saints

• According to Mike Garafolo, the Saints are hosting Nebraska DE/OLB Randy Gregory for a visit this week.
• Nick Underhill reports that Washington CB Marcus Peters, UCLA Eric Kendricks, and Washington State DT Xavier Cooper are visiting with the Saints.
