NFL Notes: James Harrison, 49ers, Lions & Titans

James Harrison

  • Steelers OLB James Harrison mentioned that he plans to listen to his advisers on how to proceed with NFL’s interview deadline.
  • According to Jeremy Fowler, Harrison wants to play, but is also prepared to fight the matter if that is best course.

49ers

  • Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports mentions that the 49ers are likely in for an “patient, old-school rebuild.”
  • Robinson believes GM Trent Baalke and assistant GM Tom Gamble have a “concrete bond” that will likely prevent another situation like what occurred between the Eagles and Gamble.
  • In regards to first-round DL DeForest Buckner, Robinson says that his work, attitude and versatility will cement him quickly. Beyond that, Robinson mentions that Buckner looks like he can be a cornerstone for the 49ers.
  • Robinson expects the 49ers to make a serious investment in the wide receiver position during next year’s draft.

Lions

  • Josina Anderson reports that Lions LB Jon Bostic has been told the fracture in his 5th metatarsal will keep him out approximately 6-12 weeks, depending on his rehab.
  • Michael Rothstein mentions that this news could lead to Bostic being a candidate for short-term injured reserve.
