NFL Notes: Jason Garrett, Jeff Ireland, Bills, Dolphins, Vikings

Jason Garrett

  • Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that “there’s a school of thought in some league circles” that the Cowboys could move on from HC Jason Garrett if they lose at home on Sunday against the Lions.

Jeff Ireland

Bills

  • Ben Volin mentions that Chargers OC Frank Reich could draw interest from the Buffalo Bills if they part ways with current HC Doug Marrone.
  • According to Volin, GM Doug Whaley is still “sweating things out” regarding his job.

Dolphins

  • Ben Volin spoke to a source who predicted that Dolphins HC Joe Philbinstill isn’t completely safe,” even though owner Stephen Ross announced he’d be back last week.

Vikings

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer told reporters on Tuesday that he would welcome Adrian Peterson back to the team next year.

“Adrian was always great with me. I think he’s a good person,” Zimmer said, via ESPN.com. “I think obviously he’s a great running back and if it works out that way and things work out and he gets his life in order — that’s the most important thing, he gets his life in order, he gets the opportunity to come back — then I will be in his corner whatever the decision is made.

“I think he would add value to any team, to be honest with you. I think the kid’s a heck of a football player.”
