NFL Notes: Jim Schwartz, Giants, Falcons, Raiders, Seahawks

Jim Schwartz

  • According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, it would be surprising to see former Bills DC Jim Schwartz sit out the 2015 season.
  • La Canfora believes he would have been a target for the Cowboys had they lost Rod Marinelli.

Giants

Falcons

  • Jason La Canfora expects the Falcons to move quickly to sign Seahawks DC Dan Quinn as their next head coach if Seattle loses today.
  • Should Seattle win, Atlanta runs the risk of missing out on the top assistant candidates if they choose to wait the two weeks to officially hire Quinn.
  • However, La Canfora mentions that the Falcons have been “very impressed” with Lions DC Teryl Austin, who would bring in Adam Gase as his offensive coordinator.

Raiders

  • Jason La Canfora also reports that former Bears HC Marc Trestman is being viewed as a “very viable candidate” for the Raiders offensive coordinator job.
  • However, La Canfora mentions that Broncos OC Adam Gase is unlikely end up with Oakland, despite working with Jack Del Rio for the past few season.

Seahawks

  • Ian Rapoport mentions that with the Seahawks prepared to make Russell Wilson the highest paid quarterback in the league, it’s likely that they will allow some free agents to walk in the coming months.
