NFL Notes: Jimmy Garoppolo, Bears, Browns, Titans

Jimmy Garoppolo

Patriots backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo tells Mike Girardi of CSNNE that he isn’t concerned about the possibility of him being traded during the draft.

“No nerves,” Garoppolo said. “I‘m just trying to enjoy the game with the guys tonight. It’s a special thing coming out here.

When asked about the trade rumors that have been circulating for months now, Garoppolo mentioned that he doesn’t think about them.

“To be honest, I really didn’t think about it,” Garoppolo said. “I was just enjoying the offseason. Working out. Grinding it out with the guys out in California. Now we’re back at it with the team.”

Bears

Bears GM Ryan Pace said they’ve identified three players they’re focused on taking with the No. 3 overall pick and explained the importance of going with the best player available to them.

“You get yourself into trouble if you’re not sticking with our philosophy of best player available,” Pace said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “When you start trying to manufacture things or create things, that’s when teams get into dangerous water. I think, if we just stay with the guys we have a consensus on and best player available, we’ll be in good shape.”

Browns

  • According to Jason Cole, two teams in the quarterback market believe Mitch Trubisky will be the No.1 pick or Cleveland will end up trading a “truckload” to move up to the No. 2 or No. 3 spot to get him.
  • Browns executive Sashi Brown tells Josina Anderson that they’ve identified their No. 1 pick while adding “we’re still listening.”

Titans

Titans GM Jon Robinson said the odds of them make a trade this year are “50-50.”

We’ve had a few calls,” Robinson said, via Jason Wolf of the Tennesseean. “I think there’s some that are just investigative, just trying to see if anything is going on around us. And we’ve had a couple a little more serious in nature about potentially moving.”
