NFL Notes: Jon Gruden, Bears, Cardinals, & Saints

Jon Gruden

According to Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report, former HC Jon Gruden may not have as many suitors as have been previously reported.

Cole mentions that there are concerns about him from people around the league, just like head coaching candidates likely have concerns about the Raiders organization.

Bears

  • DE Jared Allen rejoined the Bears this week, but said he needs to regain the 12 pounds lost while he was dealing with pneumonia and rebuild strength to play this week. (Ed Werder)

Cardinals

  • QB Carson Palmer mentioned that his nerve issue in his shoulder hasn’t progressed as much as he had hoped, but he still believes he is capable of starting this week. (Ed Werder)

Saints

Former Eagles president Joe Banner mentions that Dennis Allen may have been the wrong head coach for Raiders, he could be “the man that can save the Saints season.

Banner adds that Allen is a highly respected defensive coordinator around the NFL. This would suggest that Rob Ryan is on the hot seat in New Orleans, which may not be all that surprising given the expectations for the defense and their horrible performance thus far.
