NFL Notes: Josh Gordon, 49ers, Browns, Cardinals, & Chiefs

Josh Gordon

49ers

Browns

  • NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock mentioned that he still believes in Johnny Manziel as the team’s quarterback.
  • Mayock said he thinks it’s risky trying to move up to get a quarterback such as Marcus Mariota or Jameis Winston.
  • Mayock believes the Browns could target a defensive tackle like Texas’ Malcom Brown or Oklahoma’s Jordan Phillips or Oregon’s Arik Armstead.

Cardinals

Cardinals GM Steve Keim says that QB Carson Palmer has resumed running and is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn ACL.

He’s awesome,” Keim said, via ArizonaSports.com. “He came in, I believe it was yesterday and I talked to him at length, he’s more energized than ever and he looked fantastic.

“It looks like he put on some lean muscle; he is working his tail off. And I know he’s at a point in his rehabilitation process where he’s doing some running and he’s ahead of schedule. And again, he’s more energized than ever.

Chiefs

  • Mike Mayock believes the Chiefs could walk away with a receiver such Oklahoma’s Dorial Green-Beckham or Michigan’s Devin Funchess in round one.
  • Mayock did say that he would “sprint to the podium” if DeVante Parker was still on the board for Kansas City.
  • If they wanted to look for an offensive lineman, Mayock suggested T.J. Clemmings, Andrus Peat and La’el Collins as players to consider.
  • In round two, Mayock thinks they could consider taking a linebacker such as Denzel Perryman, Eric Kendricks, Paul Dawson or Benardrick McKinney.
