NFL Notes: Kyler Murray, Eagles, Giants

Kyler Murray

Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray said he entered the MLB Draft because he “didn’t know” what his NFL Draft grade would be prior to last season.

The night I got drafted to the A’s — obviously it was a great day of my life — but I’ve been a football player my whole life,” Murray said, via ESPN.com. “I didn’t know how the NFL felt about me before this season because I hadn’t played.”

Murray reiterated that he intends to focus on his NFL career going forward.

I mean, they can hold out all the hope they want to,” Murray said. “I’m going to play football.

Eagles

Eagles’ impending free-agent DE Brandon Graham said he plans to “see what’s out there” when asked about the possibility of entering the open market.

I don’t know what all goes into it,” Graham said, via Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “This is my second rodeo, but the first time it was so quick because I knew I wanted to be back in Philly. … I’m going to see what’s out there.”

Despite saying he wants to examine his free-agent market, Graham said he loves Philadelphia and his “first priority” is negotiating a possible extension.

I love Philly. People know I love Philly. My first priority is to make sure we can work something out because, obviously, I respect that they drafted me here,” Graham said. “Howie – I was his first guy [he drafted as general manager]. We got unfinished business so, hopefully, we can get it done.

  1. Now that NFL transactions will start to heat up for the 2019 offseason leading up to the NFL DRAFT. Here’s a trade scenario for the GMEN in the NFL DRAFT.

The GMEN trade their #6 pick to Green Bay for for their #12 and #44. I base the trade on the value of the each draft pick. the 6th pick is worth 1600pts and GBs two picks are about the same value. Both teams may have to swap later round picks to even things out. This will give the GMEN 3 of the first 44 picks, including their own 2nd rounder #37.

Now! With the 12th pick the GMEN take the mammoth OT/G Cody Ford. Then! With the GMEN own 37th pick they take DE Jaylon Fergueson and at #44 S Nasir Adderly. These three picks would fill major holes on both offense and defense.

The offensive line would look like this:
    RT- Cody Ford
    RG- Jamon Brown
C- Evan Brown (this kid was a beast at the ’18 combine)
    LG- Will Hernandez
    LT- Nate Solder
Swing T- Chad Wheeler and Swing G/C- Jon Halapio

The defense would have a new look as well.
DT- BJ Hill, DT- Dalvin Tomlinson, RDE- Jaylon Fergueson
LOLB- L. Carter, ILB- A. Ogletree, ILB- BJ Goodson, ROLB- K. Martin
LCB- S. Beal, FS- N. Adderly, SS- L. Collins, RCB- Janoris Jenkins
Nickel- G. Haley and Dime- M. Thomas

If Collins, Ogletree, Goodson and Jenkins are possibly gone in 2019, there would be obvious adjustments to tjis defensive setup. Vernon has no guaranteed money left on his deal. I think Vernon’s tenure is numbered along with OBJ. Beckham would get at least a 1st and 3rd via trade.
