NFL Notes: Larry Fitzgerald, 49ers, Giants, Jets

Larry Fitzgerald

Cardinals veteran WR Larry Fitzgerald mentioned in an interview with the NFL Network that he plans to take a couple of weeks to determine whether he’ll return for the 2017 season.

“Right now I’m enjoying the offseason, giving my body some time to rest, working on my golf game,” said Fitzgerald. “In a couple weeks I’ll figure out what I’m going to do for next year.”

49ers

  • According to Adam Schefter, it looks like one of Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, Sehawks assistant HC Tom Cable, and Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan will be the 49ers’ next head coach.

Giants

Giants impending free agent TE Larry Donnell mentioned that he’s hoping to be back with the team next season.

“It would be an honor,” said Donnell, via Dan Duggan of NJ.com. “I started here. I’d love to finish here. But at the end of the day, right now I’m just taking time to hang out with the family and worry about those types of things later.”

Jets

According to Rich Cimini, the Jets’ offensive coordinator search has “piqued the interest of people around the league, but not in a flattering way.”

“It’s like they’re standing on a street corner, waiting for a car wreck to happen,” writes Cimini.

  • Cimini hears that the Chiefs would block a request from the Jets to interview co-offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. One name Cimini would consider for the job is Bills QBs coach David Lee.
  • While it has been reported that Clint Hurtt is expected to accept the Jets’ outside linebackers position, Cimini hears that it isn’t a done deal and may not happen.
