NFL Notes: London, Browns, & Dolphins

London

The NFL and Tottenham Hotspur announced Wednesday that they’ve reached an agreement on a 10-year partnership that will allow the NFL to play a minimum of two games per year at their new stadium.

Here’s more from the release:

The state-of-the-art stadium, due to open in the summer of 2018, will feature a retractable grass field with an artificial surface underneath that would be used for NFL games.  This innovative field will add greater flexibility in the scheduling of games, with the NFL having its own playing surface for games held at this venue.  This field will be multi-use and capable of hosting other sporting, entertainment and community events.

Both sports will have dedicated facilities ensuring that the new stadium, designed with a focus on atmosphere, will deliver the optimum experience for both teams and fans. It will be one of the most environmentally sustainable in the UK and also include a clear focus on accessibility via public transportation.

  • Pat McManamon of ESPN.com projects the Browns to keep five safeties on their 53-man roster including: Tashaun Gipson, Donte Whitner, Jordan Poyer, Johnson Bademosi, and Ibraheim Campbell.

Dolphins

Colts WR Andre Johnson said that playing for the Dolphins “was something I thought about,” but says he never received interest from the organization.

I always had a dream of playing at home. I was a huge Dolphins fan. But they never called,” said Johnson, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

  • Jackson reports that the Dolphins were among 26 team present today for a workout by supplemental draft prospect OT Isaiah Battle’s Pro Day.
  • According to Jackson, Miami could use a mid-to-late round pick on Battle.

  • Jackson mentions that the Dolphins are currently content with Jason Fox as their No. 3 offensive tackle, but that doesn’t mean they won’t do their due diligence before every available.
  • Despite GM Dennis Hickey saying that he expects LT Branden Albert to be ready for Week 1, Jackson says that no one is certain about this right now.
