NFL Notes: Los Angeles, Browns, Raiders, & Texans

 Los Angles

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, there’s “growing sense” that the Chargers and Rams will ultimately end up in Los Angles, with the Raiders left on the outside looking in.

Everything is kind of on hold right now publicly,” Florio said during an interview on 670 The Score Wednesday, via CBS Chicago. “Wheels are moving behind the scenes. There’s an emerging sense that how this will play out is that Inglewood, Hollywood Park as the winner of the location over Carson and Rams, Chargers as the two teams playing in Inglewood with the Raiders the odd man out. That’s the sense right now. It goes completely against the way the planets are aligned, because it’s Rams in Inglewood and Chargers-Raiders in Carson. I think at some point, though, the Chargers are going to say to the Raiders, ‘Hey, thanks for your help in trying to get to L.A. — sorry you can’t get to L.A., have fun in Oakland. We’ll see you twice a year on the field.‘”

Browns

Browns HC Mike Pettine mentioned that they are actively looking to bring in another quarterback to get them through the preseason now that Connor Shaw is out with a thumb injury and Johnny Manziel is dealing with an elbow issue.

According to Pettine, an MRI on Manziel’s elbow showed “no structural damage,” but they still plan to shut him down for the preseason.

“I just see it as a minor setback,” Pettine said, via ESPN Cleveland. “If this was something he’d never experienced before and the MRI showed something, I’d be a lot more concerned. But this being something he’s dealt with before, I’m confident if he’s shut down for just a little bit longer, that it’ll all come back.”

Raiders

  • Raiders HC Jack Del Rio told reporters that the RB Roy Helu is “running out time to have to earn his role” in the team’s offense. (Scott Bair)
  • Del Rio added that “it’s farfetched” to think LB Sio Moore can do enough in the coming weeks to be any more than a “role player.” (Vic Tafur)

Texans

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Texans second-round LB Benardrick McKinney has mild MCL sprain and the team is hopeful he’ll return at some point in the near future.
