NFL Notes: Los Angeles, Browns, & Seahawks

Los Angeles

Daniel Kaplan of Sports Business Journal reports that the league is not considering a one-year delay in the process.

This comes after the Editorial board of U-T San Diego mentioned: “There is speculation that the owners at the August meeting [to discuss Los Angeles] may delay the entire process for a yearto let everything percolate in [Oakland, San Diego, and St. Louis] to see what develops.

Browns

According to Browns DC Jim O’Neil said, former first-round OLB Barkevious Mingoisn’t guaranteed anything,” despite his draft status.

Guys are going to have to earn it,” O’Neil said, via ClevelandBrowns.com. “We don’t care where you were drafted, when you were drafted, how much you’re getting paid; the best 11 guys and the guys who earn their roles are the guys who are going to play. No one is guaranteed anything on the defense. Joe Haden knows that, Donte Whitner knows that and Karlos Dansby knows that. You’re going to have to earn playing time. We’re deep in every position group. Mingo is going to have to come back ready to go, and he’s going to have to earn it.”

Mingo is well aware of the fact that he’ll need to compete for playing time this summer.

“This whole team is built on competition,” Mingo said. “We’ve got to compete for our jobs day in and day out. We have to compete on the field on game days to win the game. I wouldn’t expect anything less. I’m ready as soon as I can get out there.”

Seahawks

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson reiterated that he is hoping to remain in Seattle for a “really, really long time.”

“It’s not where my focus is,” Wilson said, via Madison.com. “The rest will work out. The contract will work itself out. I’m excited about it and excited to hopefully be a Seattle Seahawk for a really, really long time. So, that’s the goal.”
