NFL Notes: Los Angeles, Colts, Jets, Packers & Steelers

Los Angeles

According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, Jaguars owner Shahid Kahn said that there has been “no resolution” for issues that pertain to relocation fees and temporary venues for a possible team in Los Angeles.

Interesting enough, Kahn ultimately believes that  an alternate plan could be used by the NFL to get a team there for 2016.

The best solution might be something that’s not even presented. There might be Plan C,” said Kahn, via Pelissero.

In fact, Steelers president Art Rooney II said there is a “good chance” for a deal to get done by January to place a team in Los Angeles, per Pelissero.

Rooney also said that a committee on Los Angeles opportunities will “likely” make their recommendation following the 2015 season.

In addition, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones insisted that the NFL has the situation “in their crosshairs“, and that the time is “now” for a return to Los Angeles, per Jason Cole of Bleacher Report.

Pelissero said that Texans owner Bob McNair believes that two teams must move simultaneously to Los Angeles, or the later team would risk being at a “distinct disadvantage.

More information on this topic should become available following Wednesday’s owners’ meetings.

Colts

  • QB Andrew Luck said he is “preparing to start” Thursday Night’s Week 5 game, as he has recovered from a shoulder injury he sustained in Week 3. (Zak Keefer)

Jets

Packers

  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Packers worked out undrafted free agent TE Matt LaCosse on Tuesday.

Steelers

QB Ben Roethlisberger disputed rumors that he was targeting a Week 7 return from the Grade Two MCL sprain that he sustained in Week 3.

I just left (team doctor James) Dr. Bradley, and he said, ‘Where do these reports come from that you’re coming back at a certain week?'”, said Roethlisberger, via Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I’m like, ‘I don’t know Doc, I haven’t really heard any of them.’ So I assume that’s exactly what he was talking about. We know that people like to just speculate and say things. So that did not come from me, the Steelers or any of our doctors, more importantly.”

Kaboly adds that Roethlisberger’s rehab is “going well” and that he is still on pace to meet the 4-6 week recovery time that MCL injuries usually take.

However, HC Mike Tomlin said that there is “no real update” on Roethlisberger‘s injury, but is “pleased” with what he has seen from him.
