NFL Notes: Los Angeles, Falcons, Jets, Lions, Patriots

Los Angeles

According to Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report, the Rams and Chargers are racing to get to Los Angeles while the Raiders are still figuring out how they can be the second team in the market.

Cole mentions that the Raiders can’t afford to move there themselves. The Rose Bowl has reportedly told the Raiders that they don’t want to host them on an interim basis, which means they will need to work with another team to make it work.

The Chargers “really don’t want to move,” but realize that they may have to as they can’t stay at Qualcomm stadium, according to Cole.

Cole points out that while the Rams do have the money to pull this off, owner Stan Kroenke doesn’t like to spend a lot of money, which appear to be an issue.

Cole believes the talk of teams relocating to the L.A. market is “too loud to ignore” and the financial gain is enough for the NFL to figure it out.

Falcons

Jets

WR Percy Harvin mentioned that he “absolutely” wants to be back with the Jets next year.

“I feel at home here. I’m comfortable with all the players,” Harvin said Friday, via the George Willis of the New York Post. “I like the vibe around here.

Lions

  • Michael Rothstein of ESPN believes the Lions should consider signing K Matt Prater to a long-term deal “if the money is right.”
  • Rothstein mentions that if he had to choose between keeping WR Calvin Johnson and DT Ndamukong Suh, he would probably go with Suh based on the fact that the Lions essentially built their defense around him.

Patriots

  • The Patriots brought in DB Delvin Breaux for a tryout in recent days. He could be a someone the Pats consider signing to a future/reserve contract. (Mike Reiss)
