NFL Notes: Los Angeles, Mueller Report, Cardinals, Panthers, Raiders

Los Angeles

Jason La Canfora reports that the Rams and Raiders are both “very interested” in playing in Los Angeles in 2015, and the NFL even addressed the situation during last week’s owner’s meeting in Dallas.

Eric Grubman, the NFL executive overseeing the LA initiative for the league, mentioned that there are “multiple teams” interested in relocating to Los Angeles as soon as next season.

Rams officials reportedly remain frustrated with the pace of the process.

The Chargers are reportedly have less interest in moving to L.A. than the Rams and Raiders do. However, their the willingness to move has reportedly placed even more pressure on the Chargers’ owners to be prepared to relocate if need be.

According to La Canfora, it’s “a forgone conclusion that some team is playing in the Rose Bowl on an interim basis by 2016 while a new stadium is being constructed.”

Mueller Report

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Giants owner John Mara and Steelers owner Art Rooney cleared out all NFL employees and team executives and close to 10 minutes updating the league’s owners about the current status of the Mueller report.

According to Schefter, neither Mara nor Rooney offered specific details about former FBI director Robert Mueller’s investigation. However, they did say that Mueller was being thorough, and has already interviewed every female employee at the NFL office.

Mueller is reportedly getting closer to releasing the report, which is expected to come “sooner rather than later.”

Cardinals

  • ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Cardinals QB Drew Stanton could be out a month after he suffered a partially torn ACL and MCL in his right knee during Thursday night’s win over the Rams.

Panthers

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Panthers are optimistic that QB Cam Newton (back fractures) will be ready to play next week.

Raiders

  • Jason La Canfora reports that although Raiders owner Mark Davis has flirted with the idea of moving the team to San Antonio, it’s viewed as a “remote option at best and impossible at worst.”
  • La Canfora mentions that it would be very difficult to get two thirds of the owners to sign off on such a move.
