NFL Notes: Los Angeles, RGIII, Buccaneers, Jaguars, & Steelers

Los Angeles

Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News mentioned earlier in the week that there are a number of scenarios being lobbied to NFL owners right now as potential solutions for the Rams, Raiders, and Chargers.

According to Bonsignore, the NFL could consider placing a team in Los Angeles in 2016 and another team in 2017, while delaying the opening of a new stadium to 2019. This would give the second L.A. team sufficient time to market themselves to their new city.

Interestingly enough, Bonsignore adds that the Raiders relocating to San Diego in the event the Chargers and Rams both head to Los Angeles as part of the Hollywood Park project has been floated as a potential solution.

RGIII

• Redskins president Bruce Allen announced that QB Robert Griffin III has been cleared to play. (Dan Hellie)

Buccaneers

• Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) returned to practice Friday. (Rick Stroud)
• DE George Johnson and CB Mike Jenkins did not practice on Friday. (Rick Stroud)

Jaguars

• Jaguars are working out WR Davaris Daniels on Friday, according to Aaron Wilson.
• WR Marqise Lee (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 1 against the Panthers. (John Oehser)
• RB Toby Gerhart (abdomen) is questionable for Week 1 against the Panthers. (John Oehser)

Steelers

The NFL released a statement Friday morning that they plan to look into the situation involving headset communication from Thursday night’s season-opener.

The coaches’ communications equipment, including the headsets, is provided by the NFL for both clubs use on game day. The home team is responsible for the installation and maintenance of that equipment. Every team’s game day communications personnel are required to work with the NFL communications consultants to ensure wireless equipment is free and clear of interference and address any problems. Technological and stadium infrastructure issues of this type happen at many stadiums around the league and whenever there are issues of this nature, we do a thorough review.

• Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that the Steelers will file a complaint with the league office on both fronts – the equipment failure and officials not turning off headsets on both sidelines.
• NFL is also investigating Steelers’ assistant coach for allegedly assaulting a Patriots’ fan during Thursday’s game. (Adam Schefter)
