NFL Notes: Los Angeles, Trade Rumors, Jon Gruden, Raiders

Los Angeles

Jason La Canfora reports that there have been ongoing and semi-regular conference calls taking place between small groups of owners and NFL officials about the idea of relocating teams to Los Angeles.

La Canfora continues to hear that it’s not out of the question that two teams could announce their intent to move to Los Angeles for the 2015 season by next February.

The Rams and Raiders have been engaged in active discussions exploring the LA market and stadium options.

Trade Rumors

  • The Raiders are reportedly willing to trade back-up QB Matt Schaub, but there isn’t much of a market for him. (Jason La Canfora)
  • The Eagles are reportedly “reticent” to trade OLB Brandon Graham.
  • La Canfora mentions that the lack of trade talk before this year’s deadline  is due to a lack of teams that are out of the mix for the playoffs.
  • Another reason is that many team lack desirable trade commodities.

Jon Gruden

Ian Rapport, citing three sources, reports that Jon Gruden spent round one of the draft “imploring” the Raiders to draft QB Johnny Manziel.

According to Rapoport, Gruden told a close friend: “If there is one job I’d come back to the NFL for, it’s the Raiders.”
