NFL Notes: Los Angles, Veteran Combine, Rule Change, Draft

Los Angeles

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times reports that Rams owner Stan Kroenke will unveil his plans to build a $1.86-billion stadium for the Hollywood Park site in Inglewood to NFL owners this week.

According to Farmer, Kroenke’s plan would house two NFL franchises and includes two home locker rooms, identical sets of office space and two owners’ suites.

The Chargers and Raiders recently announced their plans to build and share a stadium in Carson, so there is a competing option for NFL owners to consider.

While Kroenke hasn’t announced his plans for the Rams, analysts believe it’s doubtful he would invest in this stadium if the Rams weren’t one of the two teams.

Veteran Combine

  • Charles Robinson reports that electronic times were used at the Veteran’s Combine and is responsible for the poor 40-yard dash times.
  • According to Robinson, the 40 times should be adjusted by .1 – .2 seconds, which teams someone who ran 4.85 would be closer to 4.65 – 4.75.

This is good news for veteran RB Michael Bush, who was clearly disappointed with his 40 time.

You gotta be (expletive) me,” Bush said, via NFL.com. “… 4.91? … There you go, there goes my career.”

“Man, stop playing. 4.91? You all just messed it up for me,” said Bush. “A 4.91? That’s like saying you can come off the bench, and you can come catch me.

Rule Changes

  • Giants owner John Mara and a competition committee member said they believe there will be no major changes to instant replay in 2016. (Ian Rapoport)

Draft

  • According to Charles Robinson, Alabama WR Amari Cooper actually posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.35-4.38 at the Combine, which is a lot closer to WVU WR Kevin White than what many thought.
  • Rand Getlin reports that Miami RB Duke Johnson met with 22 teams at the Combine.
  • Gil Brandt reports that LSU CB Jalen Collins underwent foot surgery last week.
