NFL Notes: Mike Vrabel, 49ers, Bills, Chargers, Raiders

Mike Vrabel

  • According to Charles Robinson, there has been “overwhelming support” from NFL coaches and personnel members around the NFL for Texans LBs coach Mike Vrabel.
  • Robinson adds that a lot of people think Vrabel will be a “superb” head coach when given the opportunity.
  • Vrabel has come up as a potential option for the Rams after they scheduled an interview with him.

49ers

  • Charles Robinson hears that ESPN analyst Louis Riddick’s interview with the 49ers went well, but San Francisco appears to be waiting for their next coach to weigh in on their next GM.
  • Robinson has also heard that Riddick could be paired with Patriots OC Josh McDaniels if the 49ers hire him as their next head coach.

Bills

  • Despite mentioning the possibility that Norv Turner could be an option for the Bills’ offensive coordinator job earlier in the day, Michael Silver no longer expects him to be an option for Buffalo.

Chargers

  • According to Charles Robinson, there is some concern in regards to whether the Chargers’ next head coach will get the opportunity to pick the offensive staff.
  • Robinson hears that Chargers owner Dean Spanos wants to retain their offensive coaches who are still under contract.

Raiders

  • Jason Cole reports that partnership between the Raiders and casino owner Sheldon Adelson appears to be moving forward after some recent stumbles.
