NFL Notes: Michael Sam, Giants, Jaguars, Panthers, & Steelers

Michael Sam

According Mike Freeman of the Bleacher Report, no team is interested in signing rookie DE Michael Sam.

Freeman, citing data from Cyd Zeigler of Outsports.com, writes Sam “should have stayed in the closet because the data shows that bigotry is playing a part in him not making the NFL.

Giants

Mike Freeman of the Bleacher Report, expects “heads to roll” in the Giants organization, which could include HC Tom Coughlin losing his job as well as people in the front office if the team doesn’t make the playoffs.

Freeman reports that personnel men around the NFL are “bracing for the Giants to undergo fairly substantial changes if the team fails to make the postseason again.

Jaguars

  • Rookie QB Blake Bortles suffered a sprained left wrist during Sunday’s loss to the Bengals, but it doesn’t appear to be a major issue. (Ryan O’Halloran)

Panthers

Steelers

  • Steelers signed S Jordan Dangerfield to their practice squad. (Aaron Wilson)
  • Steelers released DE Ethan Hemer from their practice squad. (Aaron Wilson)

  1. The way owners back players involved in domestic abuse, I find it difficult to believe Sam can’t find a job because he’s gay. The Rams ownership and players backed him 100% and he couldn’t make their roster. That tells you something. I think it’s more because he cannot play at a NFL level.
