NFL Notes: Mitch Trubisky, Chiefs, Dolphins

Mitch Trubisky

The Arizona Cardinals have been taking a look at quarterback prospects this year, but HC Bruce Arians has some questions about UNC’s Mitch Trubisky.

A really talented player,” Arians said this week, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “The growth potential is obviously there. The question is why wasn’t all that talent starting for the last three years? That’s always bugging me. So you have to go and answer those questions with him, with his coach, but the physical talent is there.”

An NFL scout previously compared Trubisky to Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, but Arians can’t see it.

“That’s a hell of a scout,” said Arians. “I don’t know how you can compare those two. When Aaron was coming out, he was in a totally different offense. I’m old enough to know when Aaron came out because I evaluated him.

“Mitch probably has a stronger arm coming out than Aaron did. But to say anybody reminds you of somebody, to me it’s just physically, stature-wise or just arm-strength wise. I wouldn’t put that much pressure on a guy to say he’s Aaron Rodgers.

Chiefs

Chiefs president Mark Donovan tells Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star that they’re interested in hosting the draft in Kansas City and have received “good feedback” from the NFL.

We’ll have representatives there to look at how they do it, to make sure the league knows we’re serious and we are serious about learning and making it a great experience,” Donovan said. “We’ve been open and consistent in our communication with the league that the draft is something we definitely want to pursue, so I think we’re well-positioned there.”

Donovan added: “We feel good that we will be in the mix.

Dolphins

  • Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins will use two of their 30 pre-draft visits on North Carolina State S Josh Jones and Texas A&M S Justin Evans.
