NFL Notes: New Drug Policy, Bears, Lions, Packers, & Vikings

 

New Drug Policy

  • The NFLPA has reportedly informed team reps to be on “standby for a potential vote” on a new drug policy. (Jason La Canfora)

  • However, Josh Gordon’s case remains “tricky” given that his failed test occurred before new league year. (Jason La Canfora)

Bears

  • WR Brandon Marshall did not practice on Thursday, but is reportedly hoping to test out his injured ankle on Friday. (Jeff Dickerson)
  • It’s possible that the Bears could make more roster moves before Sunday’s game against the 49ers.  (Brad Biggs)

Lions

  • HC Jim Caldwell mentioned that the “most likely scenario” regarding the Lions’ open roster spot is to add a player off their practice squad. (Dave Birkett)
  • Dave Birkett points out that the Lions could consider promoting one of their two defensive backs — Mohammed Seisay and Nate Ness– on the practice squad.

Packers

  • HC Mike McCarthy announced that RB Eddie Lacy has been cleared to play against the Jets and added that Lacy “looked good in practice” on Thursday. (Tom Silverstein)
