NFL Notes: Nick Foles, Browns, Patriots & Ravens

Nick Foles

  • Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out that if QB Nick Foles is able to make the Chiefs’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, he will break even after he agreed to reduce his compensation in order for the Rams to grant him his release.
  • Foles cut his $1.75 million salary down to $1 million and later signed a one-year, $1.75 million deal with Kansas City.

Browns

  • Charles Robinson reports that Browns WR Josh Gordon has “no shortage of supporters internally.” However, the Browns wish he would distance himself from former QB Johnny Manziel.
  • According to Robinson, the Browns will likely need to scheme in order to generate a pass rush this season. Robinson expects them to take a lot of chances to get to the quarterback.

Patriots

  • Mike Reiss of ESPN reports that Patriots RB Dion Lewis remaining on the team’s active/PUP list isn’t a result of some sort of setback for his torn ACL.

Ravens

Ravens first-round OT Ronnie Stanley left Saturday’s practice with a soft-tissue injury. However, neither he nor the team are overly concerned about the injury.

I’m not concerned,” Stanley said, via ESPN.com. “Minor setback. It’s nothing major.”
