NFL Notes: Jets, Packers, Saints, & Steelers

Jets

Jets WR Brandon Marshall mentioned on ESPN’s First Take that he doesn’t Colin Kaepernick as his quarterback next year.

“I don’t want Kaepernick,” Marshall said. “I think he’s good. My guy is [Ryan Fitzpatrick]. It’s nothing against Kaepernick. I have my quarterback, so I’m good.”

Packers

Saints

  • Mike Triplett of ESPN writes that the Saints locking up LT Terron Armstead to an extension this offseason will be a “top priority” for them.
  • Triplett expects 2015 first-round pick Andrus Peat to compete for the starting right-tackle job this season.
  • Veteran RT Zach Strieff could be a potential salary-cap casualty if the Saints feel that Peat is definitely ready to replace him, according to Triplett.

Steelers

Steelers impending free agent LT Kelvin Beachum said he has no plans to move inside to guard or change his position.

I am not going to say anything,” Beachum said of teams potentially asking him to change position, via Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I am just going to look at them like they are crazy. I have played left tackle my entire career, and I was thrust into all kinds of positions when I got here and I was a team player from that perspective, but I made my mark as a left tackle.
