Philip Rivers

  • Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reports that unless the Chargers and QB Philip Rivers are able to work out an agreement on a long-term deal by the first preseason game, negotiations are expected to be tabled for the rest of the year.

Bengals

  • Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News mentions that veteran QB Matt Cassel received starting reps for the third day in a row Sunday, and could be the leader in the clubhouse for the Bills’ job.
  • Carucci mentions that Tyrod Taylor alternated with the starters at times, so he appears to have a shot at the job as well.

Giants

  • Giants owner and president John Mara mentioned during an interview with WFAN 660 that they’ve finally spoken to franchise DE Jason Pierre-Paul following his fireworks accident. (Paul Schwartz)
