Philip Rivers

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk has a detailed breakdown of Chargers QB Philip Rivers new four-year extension worth $84 million. Here are some of the details:

  • 2015: $22.5 million signing bonus, $15 million base salary
  • 2016: $16.5 million is guaranteed for injury only until the second day of the 2016
  • 2017: $14 million base salary, $11 million becomes fully guaranteed on the second day of the waiver period.
  • 2018: $5 million roster bonus,  $10 million salary.
  • 2019: $5 million roster bonus, $11 million salary.

Jonathan Martin

Bills

  • According to Tim Graham, it looks like Bills QB Tyrod Tayloris in the driver’s seat” for the starting job.
  • Michael Langston reports that Bills RB Karlos Williams underwent surgery this morning and is likely out three-four weeks.
  • Former NFL physician David Chao mentions that from statistically perspective, an appendicitis would be at the top of the list for this kind of situation.
  • However, Chao admits he has no idea what the diagnosis really is in regards to Williams.

Broncos

  • Jason Cole of B/R reports that the Broncos are trying to determine if QB Brock Osweiler can be the heir apparent to Peyton Manning.
  • Cole mentions that it could be tough for the Broncos to convince Osweiler to return given that he’s in the final year of his contract and is in position to test the open market next year.
  • Cole expects the Broncos to offer him a contract that would include a certain amount of moeny tied to incentives.

Cardinals

  • Adam Caplan reports that Cardinals rookie LB Zack Wagenmann broke his foot and will miss the entire 2015 season.
