NFL Notes: QB Trade Market, Los Angeles, Mariota, Chargers, Patriots

Quarterback Trade Market

Bill Barnwell of Grantland.com takes a look at some quarterbacks that could be available for trade this offseason.

Barnwell admits that the chances of a quarterback being traded are “pretty slim,” but there is at least a chance that one of these players could be made available.

As for players that could be available, Barnwell lists:

Los Angeles

Albert Breer of NFL Media has a number of notes regarding teams potentially relocating to Los Angeles.

  • According to Breer, the NFL has told teams that there could be multiple teams and stadium locations in play.
  • As of now, the NFL isn’t sure if any team will submit a bid to relocate to L.A. before the February 15th deadline.
  • The NFL is reportedly looking at the Rose Bowl, the L.A. Coliseum and Dodger Stadium as temporary locations, per Breer.
  • Breer mentions that the Rams are still in play, but they could elect to go with a year-to-year lease in January with St. Louis hoping to have stadium plan in place for them then.
  • Breer reports that the NFL likes the San Diego market, and there is a chance that they could fill that market with a team if the Chargers end up relocating to Los Angeles.
  • Interestingly enough, Breer believes the Raiders can’t be ruled out as a possibility in San Diego.
  • Should the Chargers stay in San Diego, L.A. is likely to get just one team, per Breer.

Marcus Mariota

  • Oregon QB Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy Saturday night over Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon and Alabama WR Amari Cooper.
  • All three have an opportunity to be selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. (Todd McShay)

Chargers

  • The Chargers were reportedly interested in signing QB David Fales off the Bears practice squad. (Adam Jahns)

Patriots

  • According to Adam Jahns, the Patriots tried to sign QB David Fales off of the Bears practice squad on Saturday, which explains why Chicago promoted him to their active roster.
