NFL Notes: Replay Changes, Colts, Packers & Raiders

Replay Changes

The NFL adopted new replay changes on Tuesday, via NFL Communications.

According to Article 5 of the rule changes, the only new replay addition factors into game administration and will allow the following issues to be reviewed:

  • Penalty enforcement.
  • The proper down.
  • Spot of a foul.
  • Game clock status.

Additionally, Article 4 dictates that non-reviewable plays are limited to: fouls excluding those outlined in Article 5, spot of the ball/runner, and six miscellaneous instances.

Colts

Colts DE Arthur Jones was unclear with the timetable for his return from an ankle injury that kept him out of the entire 2015 season.

Whatever they tell me to do, that’s what I’m doing,” said Jones, via Zak Keefer. “When the time is ready to go, I’ll be ready to go.

Packers

Packers HC Mike McCarthy said that WR Jordy Nelson is on schedule with his recovery from a torn ACL and is expected to return for the start of training camp.

Jordy Nelson is doing very well,” McCarthy said, via Bill Huber. “He’s right on schedule, I would say, and he’s sticking to the plan. So, I think he has to be smart in these times and just make sure we go about it the right way. We’re focusing on more individual work with Jordy Nelson than put him in the group and the combination of team environment right now.”

Nelson also acknowledged that training camp is the targeted date for his return.

“I know what I need to do and want to do to be ready to go come training camp, and that’s where we just need to get to,” he said. “So, when I leave here at the end of the minicamp, I’m ready to go, I don’t have anything to worry about. That’s just where I want to get to, and we’ll be there. We’re not worried about that.”

Raiders

  • Raiders DE Mario Edwards Jr. (neck) participated in limited fashion at Tuesday’s OTAs during individual and team drills. (Scott Bair)
  • This is the first time Edwards Jr. has practiced since landing on the season-ending injured reserve in December with a neck injury that was considered career threatening.
