NFL Notes: Randy Gregory, Mike McCoy, Broncos & Eagles

Randy Gregory

  • Randy Gregory‘s appeal hearing for his one-year suspension is scheduled for Tuesday. However, Ian Rapoport reports that there could be a postponement because Gregory recently fired his agent and is now looking for new representation.
  • Rapoport adds that Gregory no longer having an agent has complicated the situation.

Mike McCoy

Former Chargers HC Mike McCoy mentioned that he plans to be coaching in the league next year, despite just recently being fired.

“I’ll be coaching somewhere next year,” McCoy said Monday, via the San Diego Union-Tribune. “I don’t know where yet. I’ll make that decision. Whenever the right decision needs to be made, that’s when I’ll decide. There’s no timetable. I definitely want to be a head coach again.

McCoy added that he’ll be a better coach following all that he’s learned and been through with the Chargers.

“I’m such a better coach now than I was when I first got here,” McCoy said. “You learn a lot through adversity. What we faced the past two years, it’s been tough. You can either get up and complain, or you can get up and move forward.

Broncos

Mike Klis of 9News reports that the Broncos QB Trevor Siemian will undergo a “minor, elective” procedure on his left, non-throwing shoulder this week but he’s expected to be ready for the offseason program.

“It’s optional surgery,” Siemian said. “It really only bothers me when I work out but I figure I’m going to have to keep working out for a while so I’m getting it fixed.”

Eagles

Eagles WR Jordan Matthews mentioned that there haven’t been any contract talks between his agent and the team regarding a long-term extension. Although, he did say he’d like to remain with the Eagles long-term.

“I like this place, I like the direction it’s heading, I like the guys a lot. I know (tight end Zach Ertz) is going to be here longer, (safety Chris Maragos) signed an extension, guys like (safety Rodney McLeod) and (quarterback Carson Wentz) are going to be here. I like the group of guys here, so obviously I want to grow with them,” Matthews said. “As far as wanting to play in Philly, I love playing in Philly, I want to play in Philly. I haven’t had those talks with anybody yet. So we’ll see going forward.

Eliot Shorr-Parks writes that the Eagles should try to sign Matthews to an extension this offseason.
