NFL Notes: Ray Rice, Bills, Colts, & Seahawks

Ray Rice

  • An NFL GM told ESPN’s Ed Werder regarding the possibility of a team signing RB Ray Rice: “The (game) tape isn’t good enough to get excited about. Not like Greg Hardy who can still change a game.

Bills

Bills RB LeSean McCoy has missed the past two days of practice due to “toe soreness.

He’s just had a little toe … it’s not turf toe or anything like that,” HC Rex Ryan said of McCoy‘s injury, via ESPN.com. “But that’s kind of a soreness/swelling type thing. It’s not something that’s really going to hamper him in the near future.”

Ryan added that he’s hopeful McCoy will be ready for their intrasquad scrimmage Saturday night.

“I think he will be [ready],” Ryan said. “But obviously that can change. But the main thing is not that he plays the scrimmage; the main thing is that he’s ready to roll when there are live bullets. But it would be good to get him in there, for sure.

Colts

  • Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Colts WR T.Y. Hilton, left Indianapolis on Wednesday town after trying to negotiate a ling-term deal for his client.
  • According to Albert Breer, talks between the two parties “ongoing.”

Seahawks

Seahawks GM John Schneider referred to S Kam Chancellor as a “phenomenal football player” and said that there isn’t any animosity between the two parties, despite him holding out for a new deal.

At the end of the day, you have to stick to your plan and your principle,” Schneider said during an appearance on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “That’s what has to guide you. It’s about the team. It’s the ultimate team sport. In order for us to be the consistent championship caliber team that we’ve been preaching since we got here, we have to continue to conduct business the way we always have.”

There’s not animosity here,” Schneider said. “I’ve worked with his agent for a number of years. We’ve had good communication.
