NFL Notes: Reuben Foster, Kurt Warner, Johnny Manziel

Reuben Foster

  • On Tuesday, Josh Bentley, the attorney for 49ers LB Reuben Foster, entered a plea of not guilty in the domestic violence case involving Foster. (Matt Barrows)
  • A preliminary hearing set for May 17 but Foster isn’t required to attend this hearing.
  • Robert Salonga points out that by not waiving time, Foster’s defense is putting pressure on the prosecution to present a watertight case in a short window and in the face of a noncooperative accuser.
  • Legal analyst Steven Clark said he expects Foster’s former girlfriend to testify on May 17 and anticipates this to be a “dynamic proceeding.” (Matt Barrows)

Kurt Warner

Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner says he actually reached out to a coach about coming out of retirement and playing this season.

“I was actually ready to, for this coming season, I actually talked to a coach and my wife said, ‘Go for it, I think it would be great,’” Warner said, via Yahoo Sports. “So I actually talked to a coach about possibly doing it if they needed someone, but then they went out and signed somebody. I don’t think they thought I was serious. So I think we’re completely done now.

Johnny Manziel

TMZ Sports reports that Johnny Manziel was hospitalized Monday in Humble, Texas, after having an adverse reaction to a medication.

“It seems like he had a reaction to an adjustment in his prescription,” a Manziel representative, Denise Michaels, told TMZ. “He’s fine and headed home.”
