Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that the hiring of head coaches could get started shortly after Rex Ryan meets with the Falcons on Tuesday.

Atlanta interviewed in-house minority candidate Keith Armstrong on Monday, so they have already fulfilled the requirements for the Rooney Rule.

Todd Bowles

A league source tells Josina Anderson that the “chemistry factor with the front office” will be key for Cardinals DC Todd Bowles when it comes to head-coach opportunities.

Bowles is reportedly open to taking a job that could require some development on either side of the ball “as long as there are some key pieces in place.

Bowles has interest from the Jets, Bears, 49ers and Falcons as of now.

Chris Ballard

  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Eagles requested permission to interview Chiefs director of player personnel Chris Ballard for their vacant general manager positions.
  • According to Schefter, some around the league believe Ballard is the favorite to land the Bears’ job.

Bills

  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Bills have requested permission to interview Browns OC Kyle Shanahan for their head-coaching vacancy.
