NFL Notes: RGIII, Broncos, Falcons, Seahawks, & Texans

RGIII

Jeff Darlington of NFL Media writes that waiving QB Robert Griffin III after he clears concussion protocol makes the most sense for all parties involved.

“The Redskins would be indecisive and financially irresponsible to bench Griffin and still allow him to practice, but they would also be naïve to think this will end quietly if that’s the path they choose.” writes Darlington. “Which is why cutting Griffin, sooner rather than later, is the only diplomatic choice.”

Sources tell Darlington that HC Jay Gruden is “entirely convinced” Griffin is not the quarterback to turn this team into a winner.

RGIII reportedly has not required that the team trade him as of Monday morning.

It’s worth mentioning that releasing Griffin would force Washington to eat $3.7 million this year and take a salary cap hit of $6.7 million.

Broncos

Broncos RB Montee Ball admitted that he was surprised that he didn’t get into Saturday’s game until the fourth quarter.

“I was really surprised by that. I barely got any touches,” Ball said, via the Denver Post. “I guess that’s the way they wanted to do it.

Ball was reportedly emotional when discussing his role on the team.

“I heard I was going to get a lot of snaps, but it just didn’t work out like that,” Ball said. “Right now it’s C.J., Ronnie, then Juwan, then me. So I guess just what it is.

Even so, Ball said he still feels like he deserves to be on the team’s roster at the start of the season.

I think I deserve to be on this team, but we’ll see how it goes,” Ball said.

Falcons

  • Falcons announced Sunday that had waived LB Terrell Manning. However, the transaction was never sent to league office and Manning is still on their roster.
