NFL Notes: Richard Sherman, Bills, Eagles

Richard Sherman

Seahawks CB Richard Sherman said at the ESPYs Wednesday that NFL players must be “willing to strike” in order to get the kind of contracts that MLB and NBA players receive.

If we want to get anything done, players have to be willing to strike,” Sherman said, via Lauren Theisen of Deadspin. “That’s the thing that guys need to 100 percent realize. You’re going to have to miss games, you’re going to have to lose some money if you’re willing to make the point, because that’s how MLB and NBA got it done.

Sherman also believes that players need to “re-evaluate” inflated contracts with non-guaranteed money.

I think guys need to re-evaluate how they look at contracts,” he added.

Bills

Bills DC Lezlie Frazier said he does not want to complicate things for players with their new defensive scheme, so they can ensure that their players are playing as fast as possible.

We don’t want to complicate things for our players at all in what we’re trying to get accomplished,” Frazier said, via SiriusXM NFL Radio. “We really want our players to be able to play fast and they have adopted very well to the 4-3, and also some of the terminology that we’ve introduced them to. The guys, they’re really excited about the system and some of the things that we’re trying to get accomplished.

Frazier adds that he thinks the Bills’ defensive line will be “stout” this season.

We think our defensive front is going to be a pretty stout front,” Frazier said. “I really think we’re on the right track. I think we had a really good draft and the way the guys have competed throughout the offseason in our OTAs and some of the things that we were putting together, we’re excited, really excited about this 2017 season.”

Eagles

Eagles veteran C Jason Kelce said in an interview with Angelo Cataldi on WIP that just having LeGarrette Blount behind him in the backfield is going to make his job much easier.

“Having a guy like LeGarrette Blount behind me is only going to make my job easier,” Kelce said, via CBS Philly. “There aren’t going to be any of these one-armed tackles, where he’s reaching out while I’m still blocking the guy and somehow he drags them down. It’s going to take everything you got to bring that guy down.
