NFL Notes: Rob Gronkowski, Draft, 2019 Schedule

Rob Gronkowski

Michael Giardi of NFL Media reports that the Patriots blamed Tom Brady‘s medical advisor Alex Guerrero in part for TE Rob Gronkowski‘s injury woes this season.

“Internally, the Patriots feel like Gronkowski brought some of this on himself,” Giardi said. “When he reported, he came in not as strong, not as fast, and not as explosive…The injuries popped up to the ankle, to the Achilles, to the back…The Patriots feel as though if he had done it their way, as opposed to the TB12 way, which Gronk is devoted to, maybe things would have been different.”

Draft

  • Andy Staples reports Florida State has dismissed QB Deondre Francois from the team following a domestic violence incident.
  • Sports Illustrated writes that NFL agent Don Yee wants to offer Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence a contract and possible endorsement deals to leave college and play in the Pacific Pro Football League, which Yee is a co-founder of.  Lawrence is a true freshman and ineligible for the NFL Draft until 2021.

2019 Schedule

  • Jeff Duncan reports that Packers at Bears could be the Thursday night kickoff game for the 2019 season in honor of the NFL’s 100-year anniversary.
  • Other contenders, depending on the result of the Super Bowl, include the Patriots against the Chiefs or the Rams against the Saints. (Adam Schefter)
