NFL Notes: Robert Griffin III, Andy Levitre, Giants, & Redskins

Robert Griffin III

The Redskins released a statement from an NFL independent neurologist Friday explaining that QB Robert Griffin III won’t play in their third preseason game.

Per discussion with Neuropsychologists and with Anthony Casolaro M.D., we had anticipated yesterday that the patient would be cleared for full participation in gameplay this weekend; however, upon further scrutiny today of the neuropsychology data, I agree with the neuropsychologist that he should be held from gameplay this weekend and be retested in one-two weeks before a firm conclusion to return to gameplay can be made.”

Andy Levitre

  • Jason Cole mentions that it appears likely veteran G Andy Levitre won’t be back with the Titans.
  • Assuming he ends up being available, Cole believes the Dolphins and Eagles could both have interest.

Giants

  • Jordan Raanan mentions that it’s hard to see the Giants keeping S Nat Berhe if he has to miss first quarter or more of season.

Redskins

  • Jason Cole mentions that if Robert Griffin III isn’t ready to play in Week 1, Colt McCoy is the most likely option to be their starter in the opener.
  • According to Cole, HC Jay Gruden isn’t a fan of Kirk Cousins at this point in time.
  • However, Daniel Jeremiah has heard just the opposite from his sources.
