NFL Notes: Roger Goodell, Cardinals, Chargers, Jets

Roger Goodell

Adam Schefter reports that the issues NFL ownership had with Roger Goodell‘s extension has been resolved and that a deal is “getting done.”

Schefter’s source confirmed that Cowboys owner Jerry Jonesraised issues” about Goodell’s deal and wanted to “open up” the search for a new commissioner while inserting himself into the discussion.

That’s what he tried to do,” said Schefter’s source. “But he got shot down.”

Cardinals

  • Cardinals RB David Johnson would not provide a timetable for his return from a dislocated wrist and that he will “see how it goes” with rehab: “Really just see how it goes. Just rehab, obviously, after the cast and everything. We’ll see how it goes.” (Josh Weinfuss)

Chargers

  • Chargers HC Anthony Lynn said CB Jason Verrett does not have a timetable for his return from his left-knee injury: “There’s really not a timetable on Jason right now. We’re still evaluating him and we just want him to get right before he’s back on the football field.” (Eric D. Williams)

Jets

  • Jets HC Todd Bowles said “it’s too early to say” whether TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins will be active in Week 3 since he still has to “get in a little better shape“: “[He’s] got to get in a little better shape. That’s to be expected with two weeks off, but he’ll get going.” (Rich Cimini)
