NFL Notes: Roger Goodell, Draft, Cowboys, Lions, & Titans

Roger Goodell

  • NFL general counsel Jeff Pash confirmed that the NFL and NFLPA have had “substantive” talks regarding potential changes to the league’s player disciplinary process. (Mark Maske)
  • Pash did, howeveer, say that the NFL is not interested in 3rd-party arbitration. (Mark Maske)
  • Pash said of the negotiations: “I don’t think we’ll get it done tomorrow. I do think… we can get there.

Draft

  • Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net mentions that Ole Miss DE Robert Nkemdiche is expected to enter the 2016 NFL draft and projects as a top 25 pick.
  • According to Pauline, while many have Michigan State QB Connor Cook graded as a first-round pick, NFL scouts he’s spoken to have don’t view Cook as the top senior quarterback in the nation, let along a first-round pick.
  • Pauline adds that Cook is a great arm talent and is able to make all the throws, but his accuracy and ball placement are concerning.
  • Pauline reports that Arkansas TE Hunter Henry and Mississippi State LB Ben Brown are both expected to forgo their final year of eligibility and enter the draft.

Cowboys

Lions

  • New Lions president Rod Wood said that HC Jim Caldwell and interim GM Sheldon White will remain in their roles “for now.” (Albert Breer)
  • Wood added that White will be a GM candidate at the end of the year. (Albert Breer)
  • Wood said that whoever they hired to be the next GM will determine Caldwell’s fate. (Albert Breer)

Titans

  • Titans GM Ruston Webster said said during an interview with 104.5 The Zone that WR/KR Dexter McCluster is specifically dealing with a sprained MCL. (Terry McCormick)
