Rule Change

  • Rule Two will require footballs to be under the supervision of the referee at all times during games, per Pro Football Talk.
  • According to Ian Rapoport, NFL owners will discuss on Wednesday the pregame handling of footballs, and the chain of custody for officials. He notes that PSI levels of footballs will remain at 12.5-to-13.5 PSI.

Tom Brady

  • Mike Garafolo reports that Tom Brady‘s appeal really isn’t about getting the four-game suspension reduced as much as it is an attempt to clear his name in DeflateGate.

Tryouts

  • Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the NFL and NFLPA have agreed to limit the number of veterans who can try out at rookie minicamps to five per team.

  • Chris Mortensen reports that Carr could require surgery on his right ring finger and may be at risk of missing OTAs. However, there is optimism that he will be ready for training camp.
  • According to Pete Schrager of Fox Sports, Raiders ownership is open to selling a minority stake of the team to a local company in the Bay Area  if that company can cover at least $400 million to help finance a new stadium.
