NFL Notes: Rule Changes, Cardinals, Chiefs, & Jaguars

Rule Changes

The Associated Press is reporting that NFL owners will hear three proposals about possible changes to the extra point during the  spring meetings next week.

The Patriots proposal consists of snapping the ball from the 15-yard line for a one-point kick or placing the ball at the two-yard line for a two-point conversion.

It’s worth mentioning that a kick from the 15-yard line would result in a 32- or 33-yard extra point attempt.

The Eagles also proposed using the 15-yard line for extra point attempts, but instead moving the ball to the one-yard line for two-point conversions. On top of that, Philadelphia suggested that the defense should be able to score points by returning a turnover for a two-point conversion.

The last proposal comes from the competition committee, who suggested the same thing as the Eagles, but would instead place the ball for two-point conversions at the two-yard line.

Cardinals

  • Cardinals signed seventh-round pick TE Gerald Christian, Mr. Irrelevant, to a four-year contract.

Chiefs

  • Chiefs signed third-round pick WR Chris Conley to a four-year contract.

Jaguars

  • Jaguars signed seventh-round pick WR Neal Sterling to a four-year contract.
