NFL Notes: Chiefs, Ravens, Seahawks & Texans

Chiefs

Chiefs HC Andy Reid said fourth-year DB Marcus Cooper is receiving reps at cornerback and safety this offseason.

“I’d tell you it’s kind of the same kind of thing with (defensive back Ron) Parker, he can do both,” Reid said, via Herbie Teope. “He’s had some good snaps for us here the last few days at corner, he’s had some good snaps at safety, too.”

Cooper also said that the team approached him about playing safety this season and is preparing himself for the “new job.”

“I don’t look back at the past, I can’t,” Cooper said. “I have a new job, a new position, I got to focus on. Looking back at the past is just going to slow down my progression.”

The coaching staff is very good at coming up to us and try to fit us in and try to make sure we stay in the loop on what’s going on,” Cooper said. “They came to me in a very timely manner and I’ve been prepared.”

Ravens

  • The Ravens worked out former Packers WR Jimmy Hunt on Thursday. (Aaron Wilson)

Seahawks

Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin said that he is not concerned about being in the final year of his contract and is confident the issue “will take care of itself.

There’s nothing to figure out. I’m playing football each day as it comes by,” said Baldwin, via via Bob Condotta. “And again, if I focus on the task at hand all that other stuff will take care of itself. So I don’t really have to think about it too much.”

Condotta also points out that Seahawks GM John Schneider has “hinted” that an offseason goal is to sign Baldwin to an extension at some point.

Texans

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Texans rookie CB Richard Leonard suffered a severe hamstring injury Thursday that required him to undergo surgery.
